Consolideck LS/CS — Reactive Silicate Concrete Hardener, Densifier & Dustproofer

Consolideck LS/CS is a penetrating reactive silicate treatment that hardens, densifies, and dustproofs concrete flatwork in a single application. Manufactured by PROSOCO, it is designed for use by flooring contractors and trades professionals on both freshly troweled "green" concrete and existing floors of any age. The treatment reacts chemically within the concrete pores to produce insoluble calcium silicate hydrate, permanently increasing surface density and eliminating dusting.

Unlike conventional sodium or potassium silicate hardeners, LS/CS does not require scrubbing or flushing after application — simply spray it on the surface and spread with a microfiber pad. Critically, it will not trigger or contribute to surface Alkali Silicate Reaction (ASR), a risk associated with high-concentration sodium and potassium salt-based alternatives.

Key Features & Benefits

Reactive Calcium Silicate Hydrate Chemistry

LS/CS reacts with the concrete to produce insoluble calcium silicate hydrate within the concrete pores, hardening and densifying the slab from within rather than depositing a surface coating. This permanent chemical reaction means the treatment cannot peel, flake, or wear off like a topical product. For contractors, this translates to a durable, long-lasting result without the need for recoating cycles.

No-Scrub, No-Flush Application

Conventional silicate hardeners often require scrubbing and flushing to remove excess salts from the surface. LS/CS eliminates those steps — application is a straightforward spray-and-spread process using a microfiber pad. This reduces labor time and simplifies crew workflow on large flatwork projects.

Works on Green Concrete and Existing Floors

LS/CS is suitable for freshly troweled "green" concrete immediately after placement, as well as existing floors of any age. This flexibility means contractors can use a single product across new construction dustproofing applications and renovation or maintenance work on older slabs.

ASR Safe

LS/CS will not trigger or contribute to surface Alkali Silicate Reaction (ASR), which can be a concern with conventional sodium or potassium silicate hardeners that deposit high concentrations of alkali salts. Specifying an ASR-safe product reduces long-term liability risk on projects where concrete integrity is critical.

Zero VOC Content

LS/CS has a VOC content of 0 g/L and is compliant with all national, state, and district AIM VOC regulations, including CARB 2007 (category: Concrete/Masonry Sealers, limit 100 g/L). It is also CDPH Standard Method v1.2-2017 compliant for low VOC emissions, supporting use in occupied or sensitive interior environments such as data centers and institutional facilities.

Comprehensive Green Building Certifications

LS/CS carries a Declare label (Red List Free) from the International Living Future Institute, a Health Product Declaration (HPD), SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification, an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD, Declaration #: SmartEPD-2025-001-0714-01), and NSF registration. The product fully inventories chemical ingredients to 100 ppm with no GreenScreen Benchmark 1 hazards, supporting LEED v4/v5, LEED v4 Material Ingredient Optimization, Living Building Challenge 3.x, WELL v2, CALGreen, and Fitwel submittals.

Common Applications

Warehouse and Distribution Center Floors

LS/CS is well suited to the large concrete flatwork typical of warehouses and distribution centers, where dustproofing and surface hardness directly affect operational cleanliness and floor longevity under heavy traffic.

Dustproofing Freshly Placed Green Concrete

Applied immediately after troweling, LS/CS renders freshly placed concrete dustproof before the slab is put into service, eliminating the concrete dust that can contaminate products and equipment in new construction facilities.

Data Centers

PROSOCO specifically identifies LS/CS as suitable for data center concrete floors, where dust control is critical to protecting sensitive electronic equipment.

Renovation and Maintenance of Existing Floors

Because LS/CS works on concrete of any age, it can be applied to existing floors undergoing renovation or requiring hardening and dustproofing without the need for a new pour.

Polished Concrete Preparation

As demonstrated in academic and commercial polishing projects, LS/CS serves as a densifier step within concrete grinding and polishing workflows, increasing surface hardness prior to or during the polishing process.

Compatible Materials

  • Freshly troweled "green" concrete flatwork
  • Existing concrete floors of any age
  • Interior concrete slabs (warehouses, distribution centers, data centers, institutional buildings)

Product Documents

Application Instructions

Surface Preparation

  1. Ensure the concrete surface is clean and free of contaminants that would prevent penetration.
  2. For freshly troweled green concrete, apply after troweling while the slab is still in the curing window.
  3. For existing floors, ensure the surface is clean and open to allow penetration of the silicate treatment.

Application

  1. Spray LS/CS directly onto the concrete surface using an appropriate sprayer.
  2. Spread the product evenly across the surface using a microfiber pad.
  3. Allow the product to react and penetrate — no scrubbing or flushing is required after application.
