Shot Blasters

Shot blasters are among the most effective surface preparation machines for cleaning, profiling, and preparing concrete, steel, and asphalt surfaces before applying coatings, overlays, epoxy systems, or polished concrete finishes. Using a high-speed blast wheel, these machines propel recyclable steel shot onto the surface to remove contaminants while creating the ideal profile for superior coating adhesion.

Diamond Tool Store offers a complete selection of professional shot blasting equipment for contractors, industrial flooring specialists, bridge contractors, airports, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and surface preparation professionals. Our inventory includes portable, walk-behind, self-propelled, and ride-on shot blasters from trusted manufacturers such as BlastPro, Husqvarna Blastrac, Bartell Global, National Flooring Equipment, and Diamond Products.

Why Use a Shot Blaster?

Shot blasting is one of the fastest and cleanest mechanical surface preparation methods available. Unlike chemical stripping or scarifying, shot blasting removes coatings while simultaneously creating a uniform concrete surface profile (CSP) without introducing excessive moisture or damaging properly prepared substrates.

Benefits

Removes epoxy coatings
Removes paint and sealers
Eliminates rust and corrosion
Creates a uniform concrete surface profile
Increases coating adhesion
Dust-controlled when paired with a dust collector
Steel shot is recyclable
High production rates
Reduces labor costs
Suitable for interior and exterior applications

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a shot blaster used for?

A shot blaster cleans and profiles concrete, steel, and asphalt surfaces by propelling steel shot at high speed. It removes coatings, contaminants, and weak surface material while creating the proper profile for new coatings or overlays.

What surfaces can be shot blasted?

Shot blasters are commonly used on concrete floors, structural steel, bridge decks, parking garages, warehouse floors, airport runways, and asphalt surfaces.

Can a shot blaster remove epoxy coatings?

Yes. Shot blasting is one of the most effective methods for removing epoxy, paint, traffic coatings, sealers, and other surface contaminants while preparing the substrate for recoating.

Do shot blasters create dust?

When connected to an appropriate industrial dust collector, shot blasters operate as a dust-controlled surface preparation system, recovering steel shot while minimizing airborne dust.

What is the difference between a shot blaster and a scarifier?

A shot blaster uses recyclable steel shot to clean and profile surfaces with minimal substrate removal. A scarifier uses rotating cutting wheels to aggressively remove thicker layers of concrete, coatings, or asphalt, making it better suited for deeper material removal.

What industries use shot blasting equipment?

Shot blasters are widely used by concrete contractors, industrial flooring specialists, bridge contractors, airport maintenance crews, manufacturers, warehouse operators, municipalities, and restoration professionals for surface preparation and coating removal.
