Graffiti Remover — Professional-Grade Graffiti Elimination for Masonry, Wood & Metal

Sure Klean Graffiti Remover is a low-odor, water-rinsable chemical cleaner engineered for contractors and trades professionals who need reliable graffiti removal from a wide range of surfaces. Formulated without methanol, methylene chloride, or other halogenated solvents, it is approved for use on projects with strict chemical restrictions. It effectively removes spray paints, magic markers, and a variety of other graffiti media from smooth masonry, split-faced concrete block, wood, and metal surfaces. Available in a 5-gallon container, it is sized for commercial and multi-site production work.

Unlike solvent-heavy alternatives, Graffiti Remover complies with all national, state, and district AIM VOC regulations and contains readily biodegradable materials — making it suitable for environmentally sensitive job sites. Its added body provides longer dwell times, better hang on vertical surfaces, and easier rinsing compared to thinner-formula competitors.

Key Features & Benefits

No Prohibited Solvents

Graffiti Remover contains no methanol, methylene chloride, or halogenated solvents — chemicals that are banned on many public, commercial, and government projects. This makes it a compliant drop-in solution for jobs where solvent restrictions are specified in the scope of work.

Full VOC Regulatory Compliance

The formula is compliant with all national, state, and district AIM VOC regulations, with a maximum VOC content of 30%. Contractors working across multiple jurisdictions can use this product without reformulating their cleaning protocol for regional compliance requirements.

Added Body for Better Performance on Vertical Surfaces

The product's thickened consistency allows it to cling to vertical masonry walls during dwell time rather than running off immediately. This results in more consistent chemical contact with the graffiti media, reducing the number of applications needed and improving overall cleaning efficiency.

Water-Rinsable with Cold or Hot Water

Spent product and dissolved graffiti rinse away cleanly with cold or hot water, making cleanup straightforward on any job site. Masonry-washing equipment at 400–1,000 psi with a 6–8 gallon-per-minute flow rate provides the optimal rinse combination for porous substrates.

Compatible with Sacrificial Anti-Graffiti Coatings

Graffiti Remover serves as an excellent chemical assist for cold-water removal of PROSOCO Sacrificial Coating SC-1, making it a natural pairing in a complete graffiti management system. Importantly, it will not remove PROSOCO Blok-Guard & Graffiti Control permanent protective treatments, allowing those coatings to remain intact after cleaning.

Biodegradable Materials

The formulation contains readily biodegradable materials, reducing environmental impact during use and disposal. This is a practical advantage on LEED-targeted projects or in jurisdictions with stricter environmental handling requirements.

Common Applications

Spray Paint Removal from Masonry

Removes aerosol spray paint graffiti from smooth masonry and split-faced concrete block surfaces. Best results are achieved when masonry has been previously treated with an appropriate PROSOCO anti-graffiti protective product.

Magic Marker and Ink Graffiti Removal

Effective against permanent markers and ink-based graffiti on masonry, wood, and metal surfaces. Dwell time may vary depending on how deeply the ink has penetrated the substrate.

Graffiti Removal from Wood Surfaces

Suitable for use on wood substrates where other solvent-based removers may cause damage or leave residue. Always test a small area first to confirm suitability before full application.

Metal Surface Graffiti Removal

Cleans graffiti from metal surfaces including equipment, signage, and structural elements. Note that some metal finishes may be sensitive — pre-testing is required before overall application.

Removal of Sacrificial Anti-Graffiti Coatings

Functions as a chemical assist for cold-water removal of PROSOCO Sacrificial Coating SC-1, enabling crews to strip spent sacrificial coatings efficiently before reapplication.

Multi-Surface Graffiti Abatement Programs

Suitable for large-scale or ongoing graffiti abatement programs on municipal infrastructure, transit facilities, commercial buildings, and institutional properties where VOC compliance and surface versatility are critical.

Application Instructions

Stage 1: Surface Preparation

  1. Protect all surfaces not designated for cleaning from contact, splash, and wind drift — including people, vehicles, painted surfaces, plants, and glass.
  2. Protect and/or divert pedestrian and auto traffic as needed. Note: Sure Klean Strippable Masking is not appropriate for use with this product.
  3. Inspect for painted surfaces, sensitive metal finishes, and glass — these may be damaged. Test for adverse effects and protect if necessary.
  4. Ensure air and masonry surface temperatures are at or above 50°F (10°C) before cleaning. Do not apply below 40°F (4°C).
  5. If freezing conditions existed before application, allow masonry to fully thaw before proceeding.
  6. Always test a small area of each surface type, paint coating, and graffiti stain before beginning overall application. Use the same equipment and procedures planned for full application. Allow the test area to dry thoroughly before inspection.

Stage 2: Application

  1. Apply using a brush or low-pressure spray. Use solvent-resistant or natural bristle brushes.
  2. If spraying, use a solvent-resistant pump-style sprayer with a fan-style tip for the best spray pattern and control.
  3. Apply product to the graffiti-affected area and allow sufficient dwell time for the formula to penetrate and loosen the graffiti media.

Stage 3: Rinsing

  1. Rinse with sufficient water and pressure to flush spent cleaner and dissolved soiling from the surface and surface pores. Inadequate rinsing can leave residues that may stain the cleaned surface.
  2. For porous masonry, use masonry-washing equipment generating 400–1,000 psi with a water flow rate of 6–8 gallons per minute. Use a 15–45° fan spray tip.
  3. Heated rinse water at 150–180°F (65–82°C) may improve cleaning efficiency.
  4. For sensitive surfaces, reduce water flow rates and rinsing pressure accordingly. Pressures greater than 1,000 psi or fan spray tips smaller than 15° may permanently damage sensitive masonry.
  5. Water flow rates below 6 gallons per minute may reduce cleaning productivity and contribute to uneven results.

Stage 4: Storage and Handling

  1. Store in a cool, dry place with adequate ventilation, away from other chemicals.
  2. Maintain storage temperature of 45–100°F (7–38°C).
  3. Keep container tightly closed when not dispensing. Always seal after use.
  4. Do not alter or mix with other chemicals.
  5. Do not double-stack pallets.
  6. Dispose of unused product and container in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
