information pertaining to surface preparation.
Mixing
Before final mixing, pre-mix part A at low speed with the
LABTEC Universal Pigment Pod. Mix the pod until the co
lor is perfectly uniform using a mixer at low speed. Then,
mix A and B parts together (2A:1B for the LABPOX® 30, 40
UV and FAST CURE, and 1A:1B for the LABFAST® product
series®) at low speed in a separate container. There is no
need to rebalance the mixing ratios to compensate for the
volume of part A that will exceed its part B counterpart once the
pod has been poured into the part A. The mixing container must
be clean and free of any outside particle. Mix thoroughly for three
minutes using a low-speed drill (300-450 rpm) to minimize the
air entrapment. It is recommended to activate the mixer in the
reverse mode after the first 90 seconds for the liquid to mix from
the bottom of the mixing can to the top. Make sure to scrap sides
and bottom of mixing container so no unmixed material remains.
Only mix the quantity of product required depending on the pot
life and the working time required.
Tip for safety yellow and other translucent colors
To get better opacity with the Safety Yellow color and other
translucent colors for epoxy systems only (LABPOX® 30, 40 UV),
it is possible to use two LABTEC Universal Pigment pods for each
US gallon of part A clear instead of one pod for each US gallon.
However, should you consider this option, the equivalent volume
of clear epoxy (2 x 400 ml) needs to be taken out from the contai
ner prior pouring the two pods. The objective is to maintain a
perfectly balanced 2A:1B mixing ratio. Once this step is comple
ted, follow the mixing instructions described above.
