Established in 1875 by Charles Douglas Edwards, Edwards Manufacturing began with the Open Ditcher, a tool designed to drain swampland. To address seasonal limitations, the company expanded into a diverse range of products, including road graders, manual shears, farming equipment, rotary snowplows, and Waterloo Bar Benders. By the early 1900s, horse-drawn road graders became a major focus, with over ten different models available by 1928. However, as demand for these graders declined in the 1930s, Edwards shifted its focus to metal culverts and manual shears—products that laid the foundation for the ironworkers of today.
