Product Description
Consolideck® Concrete Protector SB — Penetrating Water, Oil & Stain Repellent for Finished Concrete Floors
Consolideck® Concrete Protector SB is a solvent-based, penetrating, reactive treatment engineered to deliver water, oil, and stain repellency on every kind of finished concrete floor. It is designed for contractors and trades professionals working on both interior and exterior horizontal and vertical concrete surfaces. The product improves stain resistance while simplifying ongoing maintenance cleaning, making it a practical protective treatment for high-use commercial and industrial floors. Low-odor and VOC-compliant, it is suitable for application in occupied buildings without requiring facility shutdown.
Unlike conventional surface-forming sealers, Concrete Protector SB penetrates and reacts within the concrete substrate, allowing treated surfaces to retain their natural texture and breathability while still repelling water and oil-based contaminants. It offers a higher coverage rate than typical water repellents or other stain-resistant impregnators and is re-coatable without stripping, reducing long-term labor costs for maintenance applications.

Key Features & Benefits
Penetrating, Reactive Protection
Concrete Protector SB penetrates into the concrete substrate and reacts chemically rather than forming a surface film. This means treated surfaces retain their natural texture and breathability — moisture is not trapped beneath the surface, which is critical for floors subject to vapor transmission or where slip resistance must be maintained.
Low-Odor Formula Suitable for Occupied Buildings
The low-odor, solvent-based formulation allows contractors to apply this product in interior spaces without requiring building evacuation. This is a practical advantage on active job sites or in facilities like warehouses, commercial kitchens, or retail spaces where downtime must be minimized.
Fast Drying — Reduced Downtime
Fast drying characteristics reduce the time a treated area is out of service. For contractors working in occupied or operational facilities, minimizing floor downtime directly impacts project scheduling and client satisfaction.
Re-Coatable Without Stripping
Concrete Protector SB penetrates and bonds to concrete previously treated with Concrete Protector SB, eliminating the need for stripping before reapplication. This reduces labor and material costs on maintenance cycles, making it a cost-effective long-term protection solution.
Broad Concrete Compatibility
Appropriate for any cured concrete from steel troweled to highly polished, and compatible with surfaces previously treated with Consolideck® LS®, LS/CS®, Blended Densifier, LSGuard®, or PolishGuard. This flexibility reduces the number of products a contractor needs to stock for a concrete flooring program.
Higher Coverage Rate
Concrete Protector SB offers a higher coverage rate than typical water repellents or other stain-resistant impregnators. A higher yield per gallon directly lowers the per-square-foot applied cost on large commercial or industrial floor projects.
Burnishable Surface
Treated surfaces can be burnished after application, allowing contractors to maintain or enhance the sheen level of polished concrete floors without compromising the protective treatment.
Common Applications
Polished Concrete Floors
Ideal for protecting highly polished interior concrete floors in commercial, retail, or industrial environments where oil, food stains, and water infiltration are ongoing maintenance concerns.
Steel Troweled Concrete Slabs
Suitable for application on steel troweled concrete surfaces including warehouse floors, loading docks, and manufacturing facility floors where stain resistance is required without altering surface texture.
Interior Horizontal Surfaces in Occupied Buildings
Low-odor properties make this product well-suited for application to interior floors in occupied buildings such as restaurants, retail spaces, and institutional facilities.
Exterior Horizontal and Vertical Concrete Surfaces
Can be applied to exterior concrete surfaces including walkways, plazas, and concrete wall panels where water repellency and stain resistance are needed.
Previously Densified or Guarded Concrete
Compatible with concrete previously treated with Consolideck® LS®, LS/CS®, or Blended Densifier, as well as surfaces previously treated with LSGuard® or PolishGuard — making it a logical next step in a complete Consolideck floor treatment program.

Application Instructions
Surface Preparation
- Protect people, vehicles, property, plants, and all surfaces not designated for treatment from product, splash, and wind drift using polyethylene or other proven protective material.
- Do not apply to surfaces that are frozen, dirty, or have standing water.
- New concrete must be cured for at least 28 days prior to application. Existing concrete of any age is acceptable provided it is cured.
- Ensure surfaces are clean and structurally sound. Remove all foreign materials including bond breakers, curing agents, surface grease and oil, and construction debris using the appropriate PROSOCO surface prep cleaner.
- Follow cleaning with thorough water rinsing. If a d-limonene based cleaner/stripper was used, clean treated surfaces with PROSOCO Cleaner/Degreaser and rinse thoroughly.
- Allow prepared surfaces to dry completely before beginning application.
- Verify surface and air temperatures are between 40–100° F (4–38° C). Avoid application on hot, windy days.
Application
- Read the Safety Data Sheet before use.
- Always test a small area of each surface to confirm suitability, coverage rate, and desired results before beginning overall application. Use the same equipment, surface preparation, and application procedures planned for general application. Allow the test area to dry thoroughly before inspection.
- Apply using a low-pressure (<50 psi) pump-up sprayer fitted with a 0.5 gpm spray tip and solvent-resistant hoses and gaskets. Use a microfiber or synthetic lint-free mop to work product into the surface.
- Do not atomize during application.
Storage and Handling
- Store in a cool, dry place. Keep tightly closed when not dispensing.
- Do not alter or mix with other chemicals.
- Maintain storage temperatures of 40–100° F (4–38° C).
- Store containers upright in factory-sealed condition. Do not double stack pallets.
- Dispose of in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can Concrete Protector SB be applied to concrete that has already been treated with a densifier?
A: Yes. Concrete Protector SB is compatible with concrete previously treated with Consolideck® LS®, LS/CS®, or Blended Densifier, making it a natural follow-on step in a densify-then-protect floor treatment program.
Q: Does Concrete Protector SB change the appearance of the concrete surface?
A: Concrete Protector SB may slightly darken concrete surfaces. Always pretest a small area to evaluate the visual result before full application.
Q: Is this product suitable for use on surfaces exposed to standing water or below-grade water exposure?
A: No. Concrete Protector SB is not intended for use on surfaces exposed to standing or pooling water, and is not suitable for surfaces subject to below-grade water exposure.
Q: Does Concrete Protector SB need to be stripped before reapplication?
A: No. The product penetrates and bonds to concrete previously treated with Concrete Protector SB, so reapplication does not require stripping — reducing labor on maintenance cycles.
Q: Will Concrete Protector SB provide UV protection for colored concrete floors?
A: No. Concrete Protector SB will not provide UV protection for concrete floors colored with Consolideck® GemTone Stain or ColorHard. Consolideck® LSGuard® or PolishGuard are more appropriate for those applications.
Q: What happens if too much product is applied?
A: Over-application can result in excessive darkening, extended drying times, and surface haze. Always follow recommended coverage rates and conduct a test area prior to full application.
