SureGrout S — Thixotropic Cementitious Anchoring Grout for Helical Anchor Applications

PROSOCO SureGrout S is a thixotropic cementitious anchoring grout formulated for use with helical anchors in supplemental lateral and horizontal joint-reinforcing applications. It is a portland cement-based mix incorporating high-quality graded silica sands and a synergistic blend of admixtures, available as a ready-to-mix powder. The grout is non-shrink, non-gaseous, and free of bleeding and settlement, making it well-suited for demanding masonry repair and reinforcement applications where dimensional stability is critical.

SureGrout S is chloride-free, nitrate-free, and non-corrosive, distinguishing it from grouting products that may contribute to long-term steel corrosion in anchoring assemblies. Its thixotropic consistency allows it to remain workable under agitation while resisting slump once placed, reducing waste and improving injection control in slot and hole applications.

Key Features & Benefits

Thixotropic Consistency

SureGrout S becomes fluid under the mechanical agitation of injection equipment, then stiffens once placed. This behavior gives contractors precise injection control in slots and drilled holes without the grout running or slumping out of position during setup.

Non-Shrink, No Bleed, No Settlement

The formulation is engineered to be non-shrink and free of bleeding and settlement after placement. Contractors can rely on full contact between the grout and the anchor throughout the cured assembly, without voids caused by shrinkage or water migration.

Chloride-Free and Nitrate-Free Chemistry

SureGrout S contains no chlorides or nitrates and is non-corrosive and non-oxidising. This is particularly important in masonry anchoring work where grout is in direct contact with steel helical anchors — corrosive grout chemistry can compromise long-term anchor performance.

Rapid Early Strength Development

The grout reaches 875 PSI compressive strength within 24 hours and 2,050 PSI by day three, progressing to 3,900 PSI at 28 days. Early strength gain allows the anchored assembly to be returned to service more quickly on time-sensitive projects.

Fire Class A1 Rating

SureGrout S is classified non-flammable and carries a Fire Class A1 rating. This supports use in applications where fire performance of materials is a project requirement.

VOC Compliant

The product meets all national, state, and district VOC regulations, removing a common compliance barrier for contractors working on regulated projects or in jurisdictions with strict air quality rules.

Common Applications

Helical Anchor Grouting

SureGrout S is specifically formulated for use with helical anchors in masonry reinforcement assemblies. It is injected into drilled holes to encapsulate and bond the anchor to the surrounding substrate.

Supplemental Lateral Reinforcing

The grout is designed for supplemental lateral reinforcing applications, providing structural grout support where masonry walls require additional tie-back or stabilization.

Horizontal Joint Reinforcing

SureGrout S is suitable for horizontal joint-reinforcing applications, allowing injection into horizontal slots cut in masonry bed joints to accommodate reinforcing anchors.

Masonry Repair and Crack Stitching

Applied through PROSOCO's bulk grout gun with crack-stitching nozzles, SureGrout S can be used in masonry crack stitching repairs where an injectable cementitious grout is required.

Compatible Materials

  • Masonry substrates (reference stone bond testing noted in technical data)
  • Helical anchors and steel reinforcing elements (chloride-free, non-corrosive formulation)
  • Drilled holes and cut slots in masonry assemblies

Application Instructions

Substrate Preparation

  1. Clean all substrate surfaces to be bonded free of oils, organic growth, dust, and debris.
  2. Saturate the repair area with water prior to application.
  3. Do not install over ponding water or within waterlogged holes, as performance may be impaired.
  4. Verify surface and air temperatures are at or above 40°F (4°C) before beginning work.

Mixing

  1. Pour the contents of the liquid container into the provided bucket.
  2. Slowly add the dry powder to the bucket.
  3. Mix with a paddle mixer for a full 2 minutes, ensuring the powder is completely blended.
  4. Do not add additional water or powder.
  5. Cover the pail to protect from direct sunlight.

Application

  1. Load the bulk grout gun and attach an appropriate nozzle for the application.
  2. Inject the slot or hole with the grout.
  3. Empty the cartridge within 5 minutes of filling.
  4. If the injection process is interrupted, empty the cartridge contents back into the bucket and re-mix until a smooth, injectable consistency is restored.
  5. Do not disturb the installation before the anchor grout has hardened.

Finishing and Coating

  1. Pointing may be performed after SureGrout S becomes thumbprint hard.
  2. Coatings may be applied after allowing SureGrout S to cure for at least 24 hours.
  3. Protect the installation from freezing for at least 24 hours after installation.

Cleanup

  1. Clean all tools, mixers, containers, and surfaces with clean water immediately after use.
  2. If grout is allowed to cure on masonry surfaces, clean with PROSOCO 600, Vana Trol, or SafEtch. Always test first to ensure desired results.

Recommended Equipment

  1. Mix using a 3-jaw chuck rotary or mixing drill.
  2. Apply using the PROSOCO manual bulk grout gun, which includes a paddle mixer and crack-stitching nozzles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the working time for SureGrout S after mixing?
A: SureGrout S provides a working time of 30–60 minutes after mixing, giving contractors adequate time for injection without premature set.

Q: Can additional water be added to the mix to extend working time or adjust consistency?
A: No. The manufacturer's instructions state that no additional water or powder should be added after the initial mix. If the grout in the cartridge begins to stiffen during injection, empty it back into the bucket and re-mix until a smooth injectable consistency is restored.

Q: What is the minimum temperature for application?
