SingleStep Cure & Seal — One-Step Concrete Curing and Weatherproofing Compound

PROSOCO SingleStep is an acrylic-silane blend formulated to cure and weatherproof new and existing concrete in a single application. It quickly penetrates the substrate to form a water-repellent gel within the pores and a semi-glossy film on the surface, helping concrete retain moisture until it reaches maximum hardness. Designed for contractors working on high-performance and decorative concrete projects, SingleStep meets ASTM C 1315 Type I, Class A requirements for both physical characteristics and product performance.

Unlike traditional curing methods that require costly, time-consuming water curing and subsequent removal of curing compounds, SingleStep eliminates those additional steps. The cured surface resists water penetration, salts, deicing chemicals, and acids, and begins beading water after just 24 hours.

Key Features & Benefits

Single-Step Curing and Sealing

SingleStep combines concrete curing and weatherproofing into one application, eliminating the need for separate water curing processes and the labor-intensive removal of traditional curing compounds. For contractors managing tight schedules and budgets, this translates directly to reduced time on site and lower overall project costs.

ASTM C 1315 Type I, Class A Compliance

SingleStep meets the Type I, Class A requirements of ASTM C 1315 for both physical characteristics — including clarity, solids content, flash point, and shelf life — and product performance criteria such as rapid drying, uniform defect-free coating, and resistance to accelerated weathering. This compliance provides contractors with verifiable assurance that the product performs to a recognized industry standard.

Deep Penetration and Water Repellency

The acrylic-silane formulation penetrates the concrete substrate to form a water-repellent gel within the pores, while simultaneously creating a semi-glossy film on the surface. The treated surface actively beads water after 24 hours and resists penetration by water, salts, deicing chemicals, and acids over the long term.

Resistance to Shrinkage Cracks

SingleStep resists water penetration when applied over existing shrinkage cracks of 0.02 inches or less. This characteristic adds a degree of protection against minor surface cracking that commonly occurs in new concrete placements.

Low-Temperature Application

The product can be applied in ambient temperatures as low as 40°F (4°C), extending the viable working season for contractors in colder climates. This flexibility reduces project delays caused by temperature-related application restrictions.

Prevents Silane Ingredient Loss

The formulation is engineered to prevent loss of silane ingredients due to evaporation, ensuring that the water-repellent chemistry remains effective through the application and curing process. This helps contractors achieve consistent, reliable results across large surface areas.

Common Applications

Parking Garages

SingleStep provides durable protection against water infiltration, deicing salts, and chemical exposure in parking structures where concrete is subject to heavy vehicle traffic and harsh seasonal conditions.

Athletic Stadiums

Suitable for the large concrete surfaces found in stadium construction, where consistent coverage, rapid drying, and long-term weatherproofing are required across expansive areas.

Engineered Concrete Structures

Meets the performance demands of engineered concrete applications where ASTM compliance, uniform coating, and resistance to accelerated weathering are specification requirements.

Decorative Concrete

The clear, colorless formulation and semi-glossy surface film make SingleStep appropriate for decorative concrete applications where appearance and surface protection must be maintained simultaneously.

Existing Concrete Surfaces

SingleStep may be applied to existing concrete of any age, provided surfaces are clean, dry, and structurally sound, making it suitable for renovation and maintenance projects in addition to new construction.

Compatible Materials

  • New concrete (minimum 3 hours after final finishing and once all surface water has cleared)
  • Existing concrete of any age (clean and dry, free of bond breakers, curing agents, grease, oil, and debris)
  • Concrete with shrinkage cracks up to 0.02 inches

Application Instructions

Surface Preparation

  1. Protect people, vehicles, property, plants, windows, and all non-masonry surfaces from product, splash, residue, fumes, and wind drift. Divert or protect foot and vehicle traffic.
  2. Ensure fresh air entry and cross ventilation during application and drying. Extinguish all flames, pilot lights, and other potential ignition sources during use and until all vapors have dissipated.
  3. Confirm concrete surfaces are clean and structurally sound.
  4. For new concrete, wait at least 3 hours after final finishing and until all surface water is gone before applying.
  5. For existing concrete, ensure the surface is clean and dry. Remove all foreign materials including bond breakers, curing agents, surface grease and oil, and construction debris. Use an appropriate PROSOCO surface prep cleaner.
  6. Do not apply at temperatures below 40°F (4°C).

Equipment Setup

  1. Recommended application method is high volume, low-pressure spray (less than 50 psi). Fit spray equipment with neoprene fittings.
  2. Use fan spray tips to avoid atomization of the material.
  3. For small-scale applications or when spray is not appropriate, product may be applied by brush or roller.
  4. Ensure all application equipment is clean and dry before use.

Application

  1. Always test a small area of each surface to confirm suitability, coverage rate, and desired results before beginning full application.
  2. Apply product at the coverage rate of 200–400 sq ft per gallon. Refer to the Product Data Sheet for variations by coat.

Storage and Handling

  1. Store in a cool, dry place away from potential ignition sources. Keep container tightly sealed when not dispensing.
  2. Maintain storage temperature between 45–100°F (7–38°C). Store containers upright in factory-sealed condition.
  3. Do not double stack pallets.
  4. Dispose of unused product and container in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Limitations

  • May show rubber burns
  • Not gasoline resistant
  • Do not use on carbonated concrete
  • Not designed for application to asphaltic or painted surfaces — always test first
  • Not for surfaces set for coatings or bonded overlays
  • Not recommended for curing interior steel-troweled concrete (consider PROSOCO DensiKure)
  • Not for use around pools or fountains
  • Will not prevent water penetration through structural cracks, defects, or open joints
  • Not recommended for below-grade application
  • Not suitable for sale in districts and states with more restrictive AIM VOC regulations

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How soon after concrete placement can SingleStep be applied?
A: For newly poured concrete, wait at least 3 hours after the concrete has received its final finishing and all surface water has disappeared before applying SingleStep.

Q: Can SingleStep be applied to existing concrete?
A: Yes. SingleStep may be applied to existing concrete of any age, provided the surface is clean, dry, and structurally sound, and all foreign materials such as bond breakers, curing agents, grease, and oil have been removed.

Q: How quickly does SingleStep develop water repellency?
A: SingleStep begins beading water after 24 hours of curing.

Q: Is SingleStep suitable for interior steel-troweled concrete?
A: SingleStep is not the recommended choice for curing interior steel-troweled concrete. PROSOCO DensiKure may be more suitable for that application.

Q: What surfaces should SingleStep NOT be used on?
A: SingleStep should not be used on carbonated concrete, asphaltic or painted surfaces, surfaces intended for coatings or bonded overlays, below-grade applications, or near pools or fountains. It will not prevent water penetration through structural cracks, defects, or open joints.

Q: Is SingleStep compliant with EPA VOC regulations?
A: SingleStep is compliant with the US EPA AIM VOC regulations (40 CFR 59.403). However, it is not suitable for sale in districts and states with more restrictive AIM VOC regulations. Visit www.prosoco.com/voccompliance to confirm compliance for your specific location.
